James McCusker, CPA, CFP
Jim is a senior executive with Aurora and is actively involved in three of the firm’s key businesses. As a Certified Public Accountant, Jim provides tax preparation and planning for clients; as a Certified Financial Planner Jim works closely with Susan Miller and Trip Millikin to provide financial planning services to clients; and, as an investment professional with significant investment experience, Jim is a member of the firm’s investment committee, helping determine asset allocations for clients and selecting appropriate securities for their portfolios. Prior to joining Aurora, Jim ran his own successful accounting, investment management, and tax preparation and planning firm, James McCusker & Associates for 24 years.
In addition to working closely with clients around their financial, tax, and planning needs, Jim also contributes to industry wide publications and conducts informational seminars around financial planning issues. For example, he has written a number of articles for the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation publications; Jim also has conducted presentations on various topics related to tax and financial planning in divorce to the Merrimack Valley Mediation Group.
Jim has been an active member of the Merrimack Valley community as well. He has served as Treasurer and Board member for the Lowell Transitional Living Center where he coordinated an annual food drive. Jim was also Treasurer and Board member for Big Brother – Big Sister of Greater Lowell. Jim graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell’s School of Business Administration with a B.S. in Accounting and has completed graduate studies in taxation at Bentley College.
