Susan Miller, CPA, CFP, CDFA
Susan founded Aurora Financial Advisors in 2002 and is the President of the firm. Susan concentrates her practice in the financial planning, advisory, tax, and dispute resolution areas of the firm’s business. Susan is a recognized leader in the area of financial dispute resolution, particularly in relation to financial issues associated with divorce, estates and other intra-family matters, where she acts in various capacities including advisor, expert witness, and neutral. She is also a leading advocate for collaborative and mediated solutions to marital and family disputes. Susan is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner, and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. She is also a trained mediator. Susan holds a BA in Economics from Wells College, and a MA in Economics from Pennsylvania State University.
Susan has provided tax, financial planning, and investment advice to individuals, small business owners and non-profit organizations for over 25 years. Additionally, Susan works extensively with lawyers, mediators and clients to address financial issues that arise as part of family and business disputes. Susan’s services in this area include analysis of tax and financial issues, structuring financial settlements, acting as a financial ‘neutral’, and expert testimony services.
Susan trains financial professionals in the Collaborative Law process in Massachusetts, as well as in other states and internationally. She has presented divorce taxation seminars for the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation and the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council, and has been a presenter at numerous Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education seminars for lawyers. Susan also presents seminars on Tax and Financial Issues in Divorce, The Role of the Financial Neutral in Collaborative Law, Financial Planning for Women, Charitable and Planned Giving Strategies, IRA and Retirement Distribution Strategies, and Stock Option Strategies for Individuals. Susan has been quoted in a number of financial publications, including The Journal of Financial Planning.
