As a general position, we do not invest in so-called “sin stocks.”  This prohibition is one reason why we have reduced our reliance on mutual funds, particularly in the US value stock sector: many of these funds almost always hold significant positions in these types of securities.

In addition to these restrictions, we can adjust and construct client portfolios that reflect their concerns about investments in securities that do not accord with their social values and economic or environmental concerns.

We have recently constructed variations of our portfolios that contain investments that have been approved as socially responsible investments (SRI), according to websites such as Ranker, CNN Money, Justmeans or GreenCentury. If you are interested in SRI, we can construct portfolios that meet your objectives while at the same time helping you understand the likely impacts on portfolio performance.
